An apprentice warrior asked his master, “Who in this world handles the sword best?”
“Check out the field near the monastery,” said the master, “there is a rock there. You have to insult it.”
What’s the point?” he asked. There’s no answer from the rock.”
“Well, then attack it with your sword.” said the master.
“I’m not going to do that,” the disciple replied. I’d break my sword. They weren’t the questions I asked. I wanted to know who handled swords best.”
“The best warrior is like that rock,” said the master. “He can’t be defeated even without taking his sword out of his scabbard.”
